Schedule breaks and stick to your plan

Startup and small business owners are often hailed as heroes for working 20-hour days and living on coffee and half-eaten takeaways. But the reality is – taking breaks can seriously improve your productivity and creativity.

By a break, I don’t mean a fortnight in the Seychelles.  Just changing your environment and taking half an hour to let your thoughts settle could get you out of a ‘brick wall’ situation.  And getting out for a full day from time to time will re-charge your success batteries no end and let you start to see what’s holding you back with different eyes.

Go a step further if you can and plan a full day every now and then completely tech-free.  Some high flyers go off to retreats to charge up their focus/success batteries, but even the simplest of breaks could get you a great result.
