Help – I think I have a Linkedin account but I can’t find it

Spoiler alert – this is a really common situation – particularly where people set up a LinkedIn account years ago and never used it.  The trick to finding your account is to be patient and follow the steps below calmly. If you do have to contact LinkedIn support, my experience is that they’re really helpful.
This is a question I hear all the time, so don’t worry too much if you’re too embarrassed to admit having ‘lost’ your LinkedIn account.  If you’re unable to find your LinkedIn account on the platform, there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

1. Double-check your account details: It sounds really obvious, but make sure you’re using the correct email address or phone number associated with your LinkedIn account. Verify that you’re using the correct login credentials, including your password.

2. Search using different variations: If you’re using your name to search for your account, try different variations or combinations of your name. LinkedIn’s search function can be sensitive to slight differences in names or formatting.

3. Contact LinkedIn support: If you’ve tried searching for your account using various methods and still can’t find it, reach out to LinkedIn’s customer support team. They may be able to assist you in locating your account or provide guidance on resolving the issue. Visit the LinkedIn Help Center or their support website to find the appropriate contact information.

4. Check your account visibility settings: It’s possible that your account visibility settings are restricting your profile from appearing in search results. Review your privacy settings and ensure that your profile is set to “Public” so that it can be discovered by others.

5. Consider account deactivation or suspension: If you previously deactivated or suspended your LinkedIn account, it won’t appear in search results until you reactivate it. Check your email for any notifications from LinkedIn regarding your account status.

6. Review LinkedIn’s terms of service: If you violated LinkedIn’s terms of service in any way, your account may have been restricted or removed. Review the terms of service to ensure compliance and contact LinkedIn support if you believe there has been a mistake.

Remember to provide accurate and honest information when reaching out to LinkedIn support. They will be better equipped to assist you if you can provide relevant details about your account and the issue you’re facing.
