Is it better to post on my personal or my business LinkedIn profile?

It’s important to strike a balance between personal and business posts on LinkedIn. That said, personal posts may have the potential for greater reach because of algorithm prioritisation (LinkedIn kinda has a preference for personal stuff).  Nevertheless business posts are still valuable for showcasing your company’s expertise, promoting products or services, and building your professional brand. The best way forward is to experiment with both approaches and assess what works best for your specific goals and audience.

On LinkedIn, the reach of personal posts and business posts can vary from profile to profile. However, in general, personal posts tend to have the potential for greater reach and engagement compared to business posts. Here are a few reasons why:

1. Network Size: Personal accounts often have larger networks than business accounts. When you share a personal post, it is visible to your connections and their networks, potentially increasing the reach of your content.

2. Authenticity and Relatability: Personal posts tend to be more authentic and relatable – and less ‘sales-y’, which your network likes. Sharing personal experiences, insights, or opinions can evoke stronger emotional responses and encourage more engagement than business news or sales posts.

3. Algorithmic Prioritisation: …and this one’s the biggie – LinkedIn’s algorithm often prioritises personal content in users’ feeds. When you engage with personal posts, such as liking or commenting, LinkedIn recognizes the relevance of that content to your interests and may show it to a wider audience.

That said, it’s important to strike a balance between personal and business posts on LinkedIn. While personal posts may have the potential for greater reach, business posts are still valuable for showcasing your company’s expertise, promoting products or services, and building your professional brand. It’s beneficial to experiment with both types of content and assess what works best for your specific goals and audience.
