What should I include in the banner of my website?

I’ve shared 6 elements below that I suggest you include in your website banner, but the key thing is that your banner should be visually appealing, concise, and designed to capture visitors’ attention quickly. Avoid cluttering the banner with excessive text or elements that might overwhelm users. Instead, focus on delivering a clear message and guiding visitors to take the desired action. Regularly test different variations of your banner to optimise its performance and conversion rates.

The banner of your website, often referred to as the “hero section,” is a crucial area that makes the first impression on visitors. It’s the most prominent part of your website, located at the top of the homepage, and should engage visitors. It’s worth putting lots of effort into it as it’s the part of your website that will help visitors decide if they will go any deeper or not.  Here are some elements to consider including in the banner of your website:

1. Eye-Catching Headline: Use a clear and compelling headline that quickly conveys the primary benefit or value your website offers to visitors. Make it attention-grabbing and memorable.

2. Subheadline or Tagline: Support the headline with a brief subheadline or tagline that further explains what you do or how you can help your target audience.

3. Call-to-Action (CTA): Include a prominent and enticing call-to-action button that encourages visitors to take a specific action, such as “Get started,” or “Learn more.”

4. High-Quality Visuals: Use a visually appealing image or video that represents your brand, product, or service. High-quality visuals can instantly capture the attention of visitors. I personally like happy smiling faces as they are welcoming and make a connection with your visitor.

5. Background Overlay: If you’re using an image as the background, consider adding a semi-transparent overlay to improve text readability and create a cohesive visual style.

6. Responsive Design: Don’t forget to make sure your banner is optimised for mobile devices and tablets, as an increasing number of visitors access websites from their smartphones.

Remember that your banner should be visually appealing, concise, and designed to capture visitors’ attention quickly. Avoid cluttering the banner with excessive text or elements that might overwhelm users. Instead, focus on delivering a clear message and guiding visitors to take the desired action. Regularly test different variations of your banner to optimise its performance and conversion rates.
